The genesis of Howie’s Hearts occurred one day when Deborah Draffan was searching for a housewarming gift intended for a beloved greyhound belonging to her friend. It was difficult to find something unique and upscale and suitable as a gift but she finally found a beautiful decorative tin canister and thought it would be a great idea to fill it with dog treats. Needless to say her friend adored the gift. This was in the time after Draffan’s father Howie had passed away in 1998, a man devoted to his family, especially his daughter, and a lover of dogs.
Intrigued by the opportunity to market a nourishing, all natural dog treat, in beautiful packaging, Draffan, who had already achieved great success with her retail import business, launched Howie’s Hearts in May, 2003. Named after her dad, the enterprise was a testament to the love we pour into our pets, wanting to give them the same level of goodness we hope for ourselves. Since then, the company has experienced phenomenal market growth.
What makes Howie’s Hearts as unique as the man this legacy has been created for is the combination of our trademark precious puppies tins packaged with our all natural heart shaped treats. A delight to all dog lovers, as well as the most finicky of dogs.
Howie would want his VID (Very Important Dog) Club to enjoy only the finest quality of his selective ingredients, therefore the company’s motto is “Natural dog treats made with love.”
He would have taken great pride in knowing his products are lovingly packaged by individuals with disabilities.
